About

My name is Heather and I am a practicing Buddhist.  Although I am currently living in the Bay Area of California, my roots lie near the Miami Valley in the southern part of Ohio. Officially, I am an urban public school teacher.  Recently, I came face to face with my misery and unhappiness as said teacher.  Finding myself immersed in a stressful, unsafe, and unsupportive work environment I decided it was time to make a change.  I realized that if I wanted to be happy, I would have to take ownership and create the happiness I wanted.  My plan is to use this outlet as a journal to open up, share my innermost thoughts and daily doings as I embark on a spiritual journey of sorts towards creating a happier and more fulfilling life.  An X marks the spot.  This is my beginning of finding the courage to change.

  1. I am from Ohio, too (southeast)! It’s wonderful that you found the courage to make such a radical change for the benefit of your higher Being. We can be so much more powerful to bring about peaceful change in the world when we honor the path to peace within ourselves. I look forward to reading about your journey.

  2. Hey Heather! My Daughter, who lives in London and is very active in SGI-UK, forwarded this to me. I live on Cape Cod on the coast of Mass. Received Gohonzon 1/1/2013. What to say….I don’t know how it works…..Faith and Nam Myoho Renge Kyo! Rock On!!

    • Oh, wow! Thank you for your message! I am so honored that your daughter shared this blog with you. That is truly a wonderful compliment and extremely encouraging for me to keep writing and keep sharing. Congratulations on receiving your Gohonzon! That is an amazing accomplishment in and of itself! I will share with you simple words of encouragement given to me by a leader the day I received my Gohonzon and that is, “No matter what happens, keep chanting!” Embrace obstacles that come your way as sources for growth and as a sign that you are practicing correctly. Never give up, and definitely Rock On! Thanks Donald:-)
